Artist Profile
Marilyn is a Victoria-based artist with over 25 years of experience in art, design, and the museum sectors of tertiary education. She creates oil paintings on linen that dive deep into architectural and interior design history, bringing a refined understanding of colour theory into her work. Marilyn’s art is all about sparking emotions through colour and offering viewers a glimpse into a world where art and design come together to explore the relationship between space and feeling.
Marilyn has been a finalist in major art prizes, including the OMNIA Art Prize, and is a member of The Victorian Artists Society. She’s exhibited in several galleries, such as Hue and Cry Gallery (Geelong), Brunswick Street Gallery (Fitzroy), Aspire Gallery (Brisbane), East Gippsland Art Gallery (Bairnsdale), and the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne.
Her work often focuses on the interiors of built spaces, design history, and contemporary environments. Through the careful layering of oil paints, Marilyn creates pieces that blur the lines between the past and present, inviting people to reflect on both timeless beauty and fleeting moments.
Currently, Marilyn is exploring the beauty of in-between spaces, using both subject and colour to evoke a sense of emotion.
